The workshop will be held in the FH3 building at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Hagenberg Campus. The university is part of Softwarepark Hagenberg, one of Central Europe's largest technology parks for software. Located just 20 km north of Linz, Hagenberg is an idyllic town in the beautiful Mühlviertel, in the heart of Upper Austria. In the last decade, with its unique combination of IT-related education, research, and business in one place, Hagenberg has established itself as an internationally recognized center for computing and software development. The outstanding mix of the most modern technology combined with the picturesque setting of Hagenberg Castle gives the town its unique flair.

We warmly invite our on-site workshop participants to an enlightening trip to the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Prepare for a captivating journey into the future of digital art and media culture, with this year's intriguing theme "HOPE - Who Will Turn the Tide".
Afterwards, we are going to have a gathering at the restaurant Bratwurstglöckerl in Linz, where we can enjoy some snacks and drinks together.
For traveling to and from Linz, we will provide a bus shuttle service. The bus will depart from the campus in Hagenberg, and return to the same location.

How to get to Hagenberg?

Hagenberg is located in Upper Austria’s beautiful Mühlviertel region and only 20 kilometers from Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. If you plan to come by car, you certainly can directly go to Hagenberg. In case you plan to use a plane or the railway, you will always travel via Linz. Via Vienna Airport

The Vienna International Airport (VIE) offers a broad range of direct connections to major airports all around the globe. The train journey time between Vienna Airport (VIE) and Linz is around 1h 48m and covers a distance of around 203 km. The fastest train normally takes 1h 41m. The Vienna Airport (VIE) to Linz train service departs directly from Vienna Airport and arrives in Linz main station. The ÖBB – Austrian Railway offer direct connections from Vienna Airport to Linz Hauptbahnhof – Central Station. You can buy tickets here: https://www.oebb.at/en/.

Via Linz Airport

The Linz airport (LNZ) offers direct connections to the transport hubs Frankfurt, Vienna and Düsseldorf. Please visit the website www.linz-airport.com for more information about the exact flight schedules. The airport is located in Hörsching, which is approximately 12km outside of the city center Linz. Public transportation is an inexpensive alternative to traveling by car or cab. The airport bus No. 601 or the train will take you comfortably to Linz Airport.

Via Linz Train Station

The linz central train station - Linz Hauptbahnhof - has direct connections to train stations in Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Italy and other neighboring countries. A direct and fast connection to the Vienna central station - Wien Hauptbahnhof - will take about 1h15min. By Car

In case you are planning to come by car on your own, there is both outdoor and underground parking available to participants in and around the software park. Car parks are indicated on the Hagenberg Campus map (see access Basement Parking; unfortunately the capacities are limited). Public Transport between Hagenberg and Linz

Hagenberg is linked to the capital of Linz by bus. The 311 coach provides a frequent service between Linz main train station and our campus. For details and timetables please check the OÖVV Verkehrsverbund website.
There is a regular train service between the capital of Linz and Pregarten, which is only 4 kilometers away from Hagenberg. The journey takes about 45 minutes. The train schedule is available at https://fahrplan.oebb.at/.
